Statement My artwork is an investigation of the different ways landscape can be experienced and observed. I am inspired by the history of landscape painting, specifically Gilpin’s definition of the Picturesque as the aesthetic ideal. In my research, I consider landscape tourism, post cards, mechanics and the industrial revolution. I explore how technology, travel and speed have altered the way we perceive and interact with landscape. My work functions as a way for viewers to experience an altering of space and landscape. Through my paintings and sculptures, I offer viewers an experience beyond the static.
